FAİK ÖZTRAK’S CV
Faik Öztrak began his career at State Planning Organization (SPO) in Ankara in 1978. Mr Öztrak became the head of the Annual Programs and Finance Department in 1987. Mr. Öztrak was Director of Economic Planning from 1990 to 1994 and served as Deputy Undersecretary at SPO from 1994 to 1999. As senior manager in SPO, Mr. Öztrak had leading responsibilities in the preparation of annual programs, five year plans, public investment programs, stabilization policies.
Mr. Öztrak joined Banking Regulation and Supervision Authority in 2000 as deputy chairman and oversaw the administration’s off-sight monitoring, research on risk management, economic evaluation and international relations activities.
Following the eruption of 2001 currency and banking crisis Mr. Öztrak was appointed as Undersecretary of the Treasury. As one of the senior bureaucratic member of the economic management team he was responsible of the economic policymaking process and monitored the implementation of the stabilization program. He left Treasury on April 2003.
After completing his career in government sector, he started to write a column on economic affaires at Milliyet, a national daily. Mr. Öztrak has also hold director position at TÜSİAD-Koç University Economic Research Forum between the periods of 2004 to mid 2007. Mr. Öztrak was the member of 23rd, 24th, 25th, 26th and 27th term of Turkish Grand National Assembly.
Mr. Öztrak is currently the Member of Parliament for the 28th term of the Turkish Grand National Assembly. Mr. Öztrak was chairperson of the NATO Parliamentry Assembly (NATO-PA) Sub-Committee on Transatlantic Economic Relations. Recently, Mr. Öztrak is chairperson of the NATO-PA Economics and Security Committee.
Mr. Öztrak speaks English and French fluently.
